Default [Resolved] Please Help...restricting access on one accout only

Hello, I would like to create an additional account on my Pc (running XP professional). The second account would NOT be able to access the Cdrom drive/floppy Drive, nor would it be able to access file explorer, and some selected programs. Is it possible to do this? If so How? And will I need any additional programs? The PC is NOT networked.

Cheers

Hudson7

Welcome to the forum

The best way to restrict users access etc in Windows XP (Pro) is to use gpedit (Group Policy).

Click Start and select Run
Type gpedit.msc in the text box and click on OK.
The group policy editor will load.? Navigate through the folders and you will discover hundreds of items that you can limit access to and control

Hi thanks, but gpedit.msc will alter secutiry settings for all accounts. In my quest I found this program, that does the job....

Yup, Group Policy on a stand-alone PC is all-encompassing.

Glad you found an alternative
