Default [Answered] hardware problem with XP

problem:
pc started acting funky and slow, then suddenly, gave me a blue screen saying something like "Registry Error" whenever i start up win xp. so i tried reformatting my harddrive.. i got the blue screen again whenever i booted up the win xp cd. thinking it was the hd's fault, i tried another hd. no more blue screen, but it reformatted very slowly.. after it hit the 100% mark, it said that my hd was damaged. somebody recommended i try different ram and ide cables. that didnt help. finally, i hooked up the hd to another pc i had lying around using the same ide cable, same stick of rack, and same hd. it reformatted at a normal speed. what could be the problem here? im thinking of getting a new pc, but i dont want to unless i know what i have to fix. please help!

thanks

Try swap the power supplies around and see whether you would be able to install windows then.

Otherwise it might be a processor/motherboard problem which is never a good sign.
