Yup, that should work...incidentally, if you are just backing up a couple of folders/files then why not burn them onto disk by using the XP burning tool?
Put a blank disk into the drive and wait for the box to pop up asking you what you want to do with it - then open a folder for burning - drag the files you want into there and select file - burn to disk.
