this message pops up no matter what the device is (even if is already installed on the computer) and its the same when i try it with any 4 of the availiable ports. any sugestions would be appreciated? thanks
Right click on "My Computer" > properties > hardware > device manager > is there any thing in that list with a yellow exclamation mark next to it?
If not - go to the bottom of the list and remove/uninstall the usb devices (make sure you have your motherboard drivers handy) then re-boot and let Windows re-install the usb hardware. All we're doing here is replacing the existing drivers as they may have become corrupted.
they werent any exclamations and the other suggestion didnt work :| when i click on the unknown device on the pop-up, it says there is no driver installed. i dont know what it means by driver but as ive had ALL the current hardware connected to the comp before, its a bit strange...
still no luck  there seems to be no reason why it wont work from my point of view. they will on my laptop but its so annoying needing to keep switching files between the two :x
