Default [Fixed] Windows Installer will not work
Um...yeah.? Everytime I try to install a program that uses windows installer, I get one of the following messages:

1607: Unable to install InstallShield Scripting Runtime.

or

The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance.

I checked the security properties and everything seemed to be in order.? Somebody said I should try to reinstall the windows installer engine, but it seems that there is no such thing for windows xp. This problem just poped up one day and now my computer is practically useless, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
