Default [Answered] Extreme slowness in accessing folders

Hi Everybody,

I am experiencing these problems on my Windows 2000:

1.? Takes >30 seconds to open "C:\" folder

2.? Takes >30 seconds to create a "New Folder", gets stuck at File->New.

Does anyone know how to fix them?

Thanks for your reply, MadGamer.

Problem #1 started right after I defragmented the Hard Drive.

My virus program scans my computer everyday.

Download msconfig from: http://www.techadvice.com/specs/file...p?fnid=3398288 . As your on Windows 2000 msconfig isnt included. After you have downloaded it run it and disable any startup items you dont need.

Thanks for your advice, MadGamer.

I downloaded and installed msconfig, but it still takes >30 seconds to make a "New Folder".

"C:\" seems to open fine now.
