Default [Answered] Reoccuring installation box on startup/XP SP2 problem

Two problems

Firstly, being going on for months now and its getting really annoying. You know when you install something and the little installation box appears and the bar moves as it completes etc. Well, this appears eveytime i turn my laptop on, and although its only there 5 secs i'm sick of it. Anyone know what's causing this?

Second, I just downloaded XP SP2 and it slows my system right down. It takes ages for my laptop to load. I noticed the main part of this download was a firewall thing. I have McAfee Security Center so i just disgarded the windows version when it asked mt to pick my main one. If i uninstall this SP will i b getting rid of anything else impoetant?

Sounds odd.

Can you:

1) Check that you have no hardware problems by > right click on My Computer and select Properties > Hardware tab > click device manager and see if there is anything with a yellow exclamation mark next to it
2) Take a screen shot of the box that pops up and post it here as an attachment

Also, with regard to SP2 - you can uninstall it thru add/remove programs in control panel and you wont end up losing much...relatively BUT see this post: http://www.pchelpforum.com/forum/ind...icseen#msg2655 for some interesting news.... :|

Nothing with yellow exclamation marks.

I read that article before, I'll probably uninstall it.

Thanks
