I read somewhere in the Feb 7? edition of PC Magazine that you can't reformat Windows XP with SP2 disc with a Windows XP with SP 1 disc. Is this true? I'm pretty confused with the suggestion to create a new Windows XP CD woth SP2. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hmmm..seems a bit crazy to me

All you need to do is re-format using the XP disc u have then when you have finished installing Windows, just upgrade to SP2 again...isn't it?

I regularly format machines with the Windows XP (SP1) CD and haven't had any problems yet.
(then again I normally delete the partition first and re-install from there)

As Hengis says all you need to do once windows is installed is to update to SP2

-Maybe the magazine was trying to say that you can't re-install Windows running SP2 with a SP1 disk, that could be true-
