Windows XP/2000 - [Fixed] - help with this applicatin issue with cd-rom posted in the Operating Systems forums; i;m getting this error suddenly now and this is mystifying me - 1) when i run setup.exe from a cd to install the application, i get a hourglass that shows ...

Default [Fixed] - help with this applicatin issue with cd-rom

i;m getting this error suddenly now and this is mystifying me -

1) when i run setup.exe from a cd to install the application, i get a hourglass that shows that it is running and then nothing happens?

2) when i click on the autorun on the cd , it gives me the - no application associated with the given file name extension??

any1 know how i can fix this issue?? darn, i can;t install any software now from cd and its driving me crazy..

yea i think so too, but darn, i have to pay a subscription fee to view the answer,, argh.. any other alternative?

okie dude thanks, found the fix and now my cd roms and setup.exe are running proberly now, must have got corrupted somehow? my computer detected a trojan in the win32 folder, maybe it did something to the exe files.. 8O

anyway thanks dude, now i can install and play.. SIMs2 !!

sry for pushing this topic, but i have the same problem. i read all the solutions on http://www.experts-exchange.com/Oper..._21036150.html, downloaded all regfiles and imported them, also made the "update.ini" file and installed it. problem is still here!
could someone help me please? i get that error on any exe which is on a cd-rom.

Just an FYI, you can only see the 'solution' once the first time you view a page on Experts exchange. The second time the solution doesn't show anymore. (on none of there pages)..

That is unless you block/delete its cookie. lol. Then you can view all of them.
