Default [Fixed] - How do I change default homepage for all users?

Hi,
Well I am a worker in a library at school and we just received all new Dells. We have a network installed and everytime a user signs on there are system defaults that come up. We would like to change the homepage for all the users that sign on but I have not figured out how to do that. We have an administrator password so we can get on that as well. So basically all we need is to bring up our homepage on internet explorer and not Dell.com!

Thanks

Default [Fixed] - How do I change default homepage for all users?

Hi and welcome to PC Help Forum !!

Are you familiar with Windows XP group policy settings?

I am going to tell you now how to set the homepage for all users of the PC.

Log in as local admin.

Click start > run > type gpedit.msc > under "user configuration" click and expand "Windows Settings" > Expand "Internet Explorer Maintenance" > click on "URL's" > double-click on "Important URLS's" in the right-hand pane > it should all be fairly straight forward from here.

Let us know if you need any more help.

Default Thanks! A few more questions...

Thank you so much you do not know how long I tried switching that just through the regedit edit instead of the group settings! It is so nice to have this forum here and to have such a quick response. Now I am also going to try to put the same wallpaper and screensaver on all the computers so where do I go for that? The screensaver I want is the one that scrolls through the pictures in a file so I don't know if that will change anything. Thanks again!

Adam

Ok, the screen saver is called ssmypics.scr and luckily it's a default Windows XP screensaver.

So, go back into Group Policy > under "user configuration" expand "Administrative Templates" > "Control Panel" > "Display" > double click on "Screensaver executable name" on the right hand pane, click on "Enabled" and enter ssmypics.scr in the name box - that's it :-)

Any probs - come back.
