Windows XP/2000 - [Answered] XP & Graphics card prob... posted in the Operating Systems forums; I loaded up the xp service pack 1 and windows has lost my graphics card in the devices list even thought thats how its linked to the monitor. I tried ...

I loaded up the xp service pack 1 and windows has lost my graphics card in the devices list even thought thats how its linked to the monitor.

I tried reloading the drivers and it says try loading the old vga drivers 1st, i dont know what these are or where to get them the card is a radeon saphire 9600 256 meg heeeeelp please

Ok...ready ?

right click on desktop > select properties > select the "settings" tab > advanced > adapter > properties > then select the standard vga driver, this will un-install your existing graphics driver and effectively give you a "clean slate".

re-boot and go through the re-install for the ATI drivers www.ati.com

Prior to the install of the latest check the ADD/Remove programs to ensure that ATI is not mentioned, if it is try and uninstall it first.

i have heard of SP1 giving ppl problems, you can try to uninstall SP1 by going to the add or remove programs panel, it should be something like "Windows XP Hotfix (SP1) [See {some reference} for more information]"
