Unhappy Re: Bluescreen crashdump on Vista

Hi...this confirmed my fears...my friend had mentioned something like this before....and that his friend had to test each memory stick .

My computer is still under Sony warranty and I also have extended warranty. How should I go about this? Also I should start backing up all my files on the hard drive to some disc for now right?

Anyone ever send back a sony computer to Sony for warranty? I bought mine through Best Buy. I worry about them mishandling and swapping parts during the repairs....as I have heard people sending in a PS3 for warranty and gets a different unit back or one thats all scratched up!

My computer is one of those newer all-in-one units so its very compact like a laptop, except everything is hidden behind the 22 inch lcd screen.
Also what should I mention to Sony about the computer?

Hehe, my cousin just had to send her's back only 6 weeks ago, but that was for a faulty screen.

They do recommend backing up all of your data before hand, it's always a good idea in any case before sending your PC anywhere. If not Sony, then anything could happen in transit, your package could be dropped, or even lost in transit.

You basically tell them you are receiving multiple blue screen's of death, and that you performed a memtest which showed errors. RAM is a common cause of blue screen so you shouldn't have any problems, but you could always send them the logs if they ask for them, you already know what to do.

EDIT: hehe, thanks Jay, we posted at the same time

No problems. They will tell you exactly how long when you contact them, normally around two weeks, but this is worst case. For such a simple hardware issue, you would be looking at less than a week.
