i have windows vista on a new computer made for windows vista (at least thats what i was told when i bought it at best buy) and a ge-force 8400 gc vid card (all updated drivers). i didnt have any problems with it....until this week. my games always ran fine on this thing for the last 6 months or so since i got it. for example i play alot of Direct Action, a command and conquer style game and i also played alot of Combat Arms, a free mmo first person military shooter game made by nexon.

suddenly my games stopped working properly and i cannot figure out why. about 3-5 minutes into a game it starts to lag harshly. it literally worked fine one night and then didnt work the next morning. all flash games like neopets work fine. videos work fine. but when i play a video game it lasts a few minutes before lagging out badly.

any help would be appreciated.

i just did the performance information and tools thing in vista and here are my ratings:

processor- calculations per second- 4.7
memory- memory operations per second- 4.8
graphics- desktop performance for windows Aero- 1.0
gaming graphics- 3d business and gaming graphics- 1.0
primary hard disk- disk data transfer rate- 5.9

how the heck do i have a 1.0 in gaming graphics when i spent 100 freakin dollars on a ge force 8400 gs????
