Default Some missing accessory items

Hi i have just joined the forum, and hope someone can help with a problem. I have an Acer Aspire pc with Vista. I had some infections and used Malwarebytes and superantispyware to clean the pc and all is now fine. The only thing is now i am missing some files in accessories ie notepad wordpad, system restore and others. I can accsess the restore in the control panel but i would rather they be back where they belong. All i have is now, remote desktop, run, ease of access, media centre.under system tools i have computer control panel and internet explorer (no addons). Is ther an easy way to retrieve these missing icons? I would be gratefull for any help.

Hello and welcome to PCHelpForum.

I think you used the programs you did and delted some items you should not of removed.

I can sugest a system restore to see if that helps bring back the missing items then run our "Prework" so the security team can help you with this problem.

Do yoy have the Vista DVD to install the operating system?

JB.

Thanks for the reply. I don't realy want to do a system restore because i think i will get the trojans back that i deleted with the antispyware software. I havn't got a backup Vista disk, but in Acer Aspire they have a restore to factory settings option. If this is the only option then thats the course i will have to take. I would be gratefull if there was another way to get the missing files back because i could do without the aggrovation of backing everything up on discs.

Under accessories can you open "run" and type in msconfig and hit ok.See what is listed for your startup.

You could burn the recovery console to DVD this can be kept for the future if you need to reinstall Vista.

Right click on command prompt and choose run as admin. In command prompt type in sfc /scannow and hit enter.

I think you possibly deleted some items should not of.

Without the Vista DVD you have two options:

1. Backup all and then do the full Acer restore.

2. Do as Jelly Bean suggested - do a system restore. Whilst knowing you might be reinfected you now know the appropriate solution without removing the shortcuts you require.

If Option 2 fails, well then, back to option 1
