Hello irish male,he has a Vista key on the side of his computer and you want tp use a diffrent vista disk to install the operating system?

Did the other Vista disk come supplied with a key?If yes then no you cannot use the disk on another computer using a diffrent key.

Do you know if your friends computer has a D: drive wich could possibly be his recovery console wich can be burnt to disk to reinstall windows.

Its a new machine that never had the OS installed, he tried to install it and didn’t know what he was doing so it was not a successful install, He then had been away for a number of months and when he came back there was no sign of the OS disc, Now when I start the machine it asks for the disc to continue the install, What is the best way of getting the OS installed?, Is the product key on the side of the machine useless?

He can try and ring the computer manufacturer of his computer and they may send him a new disk out.
