Ok so I just recently upgraded my computer with all sorts of new parts.
In this process I restored my computer, erasing everything.

Now when I tried to install vista again on my computer it said my product key needed to be installed of the allready installed operating system. So I just pressed next without entering it, there was no alternative, I tried other things. So I successfully install vista without a product key, and everythings good.

Now everyday I get a message "windows must be validated within 15 days or windows will shut down. I tried to use the product key, and it said "This copy of windows vista is only compatable for upgrading".

There was an option to register my vista on microsofts website, so I went there.

Turns out the no longer give out additional licenses for vista.

Are they screwing me? Am I gonna have to buy a whole nother copy of vista? Is there a way out of this.

Did you call them? They are actually (in my experience) very helpful when it comes to licensing.
