Yes I understand that, but what it tells us, is that it is in fact the built in mic causing the problem. The sound card, and all of the drivers are fine. That leaves either a connection from the mic to the speakers or a basic connection of the mic left to cause the problem.

Unless you are really comfortable taking apart laptops, then I would take this one in for service. The small size of laptops make peripherals like mikes etc. notoriously difficult to fix on your own.

Just one last question, did the mic ever work?
