ok. its pretty involved i guess. i wish they still gave out os cd's.
is there a list that anyone would have for a new hp. there really is a many programs on there i am not sure.

iam guessing that that recovery disk just installes everything including the preinstalled gargage.

@Bari, first of all my welcome to PCHF as well.

Unfortunately, getting Vista from a site such as bittorent is illegal. You would have to purchase a copy of the OS seperately.

I agree with you, I miss the days of getting the OS cd with my computer as well. However, in order to determine what is garbage from what is useful, why don't you Post the list of programs you are seeing, and perhaps we can guide you through.

I must agree with Hengis, I do not think that formatting is a direction you want to go at this time. Also, those restore CD's are useful, and should be kept in a very safe place, but they will replace those programs you are trying to remove.
