Default Two Vista issues with new PC

Hey guys, forgive me if these problems have been addressed or answered on here. I looked through the forum but didn't see anyone solving either of them.

I have two problems. I recently bought this PC. Two weeks of owning it, it's been a solid machine so far. Only, I've experienced a couple of issues.

First off, my Windows Experience Index base score is only 3.0 because it's giving me a score of 3.0 for my 3D Gaming Graphics category. I'm also only getting a 3.7 in the regular Graphics category. All my other scores (RAM, processor, etc.) are into the 5's.

I'm experienced enough with computers to know that I shouldn't value my machine's performance solely on the basis of Windows' evaluation, but it is concerning nonetheless. I feel like it should be a lot higher based on the quality of my video card.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? All my drivers are up to date.

My other problem comes occasionally when I'm typing. Windows hit periods where, no matter what program I'm in, if I'm typing something into a text box, no text will appear on the screen. Windows isn't hanging or freezing or anything - everything is still fully functional and working normally. I just can't type for about 5-10 seconds. I've applied most of the tweaks found here, and this typing problem still hasn't been fixed.

Anyone have any suggestions, or is it possible that these two problems could be linked with one another?

I also think it should be mentioned that I downloaded a demo copy of Devil May Cry 4 and tried to run the Direct X 10 version of it, after installing DX10 from Microsoft's web site. It wouldn't work and kept giving me errors. The DX 9 version of the game ran extremely slow and was pretty much unplayable.

Hello and welcome to PCHelpForum.

Ok let me explain a little about the windows experience.

It is an average score wich totals a few hardware items together.

Now you are have a dual core 2.1 GHZ and 4 gig RAM your score is about right.

I have a dual core 3.0 and 4 gig RAM my score is 3.6.

Now if you had quad core CPU and a high specification graphics card your score would be much higher.

Again your score is about right. It is a combination of hardware not just your graphics card.

In computer base score there is a link attached "What do these numbers mean" have a little read.

Ok could you go to "User CP" and fill out your computer specifications and check box show others.

Could you list your make and model of your keyboard and mouse on your thread.

Are your keyboard and mouse PS2,wireless or USB.

What version of vista are you using and is it 32 bit or 64 bit?

I hope that explained your score for you?

A Tech Team member will be along to help you with your mouse issue.

Please post all the relevent information wich will aid in your computer help.

Thankyou.

JB.

It's an AMD Phenom 8400, triple-core processor 2.1 GHZ. 4 Gigs of DDR2 Ram.

I'm running a 64-bit version of Vista.

Sorry, but I have no clue about the make and model of my mouse and keyboard. They are bluetooth and appear to be standard HP models.

I read your computer specifications via your link in your thread.

You have a triple core Phenom CPU I see it menitoned on the link.

Also you are running 64 bit OS Vista to be correct.Vista 64 bit uses a lot more processes than XP.

Your computer base score is correct.

It makes a diffrence having dual, quad or triple the process is not used at the same rate.

How to explain,if you are just general surfing the net one core will flow up and down on speed/usage.Then you decide to open windows media player another core may handle the WMP.The cores do not run exactly the same rate, each core handles diffrent processes running on the computer.Hence they appear to run at diffrent rates and diffrent speeds.Thats not exactly what happens just a hint on how they work.

Download and run this:http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html this will give a list of hardware on your computer and hopefully list your mouse and keyboard.

When doing the vase score did you close all unecassary programs?Such as turn off Aero, windows side bar,MSN/Yahoo messenger, webpages as closing these programs will give you a higher base score.

Also check device manager they maybe listed there?

Thankyou.
