Hi everyone,

I have been using my PC with Vista for around a year but since I un-installed some of the software yesterday (such as the Vista Arcade games, nothing that I thought was of any general use) I am having real problems with DROP DOWN MENU boxes on web sites, software on my PC and also in Word.

When I go to a drop down menu it either will not display the list (or just briefly flashes it up and then it disappears) or whichever option I select on the list it goes back defaulting to the entry at the top of the list.

This is causing me real problems ..... please HELP if you have any ideas what I may have done wrong OR how to fix this problem?

If you know that the PC was fine before you uninstalled those programs, then restore it to that time: Windows Vista Help: What is System Restore?

Thanks but unfortunately it is still not working ... I restored back to the latest time it offered me.

Another 'symptom' of my problem (which I assume is linked to the other one) is say, I am on my Firefox browser when I click the down arrow to view my History is very quickly flashes the list on screen and then it disappears rather than staying on screen giving me the option to select one.

Any more ideas as I cannot work with this happening?

*** OOPS ... I meant oldest time rather than Latest time in previous mesage !!

I think I may have uninstalled VB on my Vista PC in error ... A friend thought that is what handles the drop down menus...

I am PC illiterate so please how do I check if I have removed this and if so what do I need to do to get it back again ?

Help !!! This will teach me to tinker around with what I don't really understand :-(

I did what you said and got a message

"c:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log was corrupt but unable to fix

I am considering throwing the bl**dy thing out of the window now.

I am sure I uninstalled something that makes the drop down menus (and a few list type things, such as Inbox mail list) work. When In my Windows Mail if I scroll down or up my previous mails it automatically scrolls back up to the top when I take my finger off the key or mouse.

Very frustrated now !

If I have removed a vital part of Vista OS can I not get an online patch ?
