Default Computer takes a long time to start up

Whenever I turn on my computer it will show me a page with my CPU and harddrives and stuff and ask me to press F1 (which is normal). But after that it will go into a black screen for about 15-20 minutes before Windows starts up. If I try to go into safemode it will say "Loaded:\windows\system32\drivers... "and go on loading drivers but it will stay on "Loaded:\windows\system32\drivers\crcdisk.sys" for a really long time before it continues. I'm not sure if that has to do with my problem or not.

Everything works fine once Windows starts up but I just found it strange that it started doing this. It started after I installed a new CPU heatsink and moved everything from one case to another. I thought it might be a software problem so I clean installed windows vista but it still takes a long time to start up. Any help would be greatly appreciated

My specs are:
CPU:QX6700
Mobo: nforce 680i
vid card: GTX 8800
RAM: 4GB

If you need any more information I will post it up.

Default Re: Computer takes a long time to start up

Welcome to PCHF.

First thing to check.
Open your Device Manager.
Click on View ... Show hidden devices

Click on and Delete (with the Delete key) any devices that have a ? or ! in front of them.
If the Device Manager has an "Other" device category, open it and Delete any devices in the "Other" category.
Now, reboot.

The reboot will force Windows to refind the deleted devices and hopefully see them for what they are.
After rebooting, give Windows time to locate and properly install the deleted devices.

Go to the Device Manager and verify that all your devices are listed correctly.
