Default Driver Issues...

i've just read another thread about something like whats happening to me, but its not quite the same. Ok i just built up a new pc, first one i've done for a few years now, last one i did was a 3.00+ amd athlon when they were pretty powerfull at the time. So i decided to go triple core AMD phenom and go all out(as far as budget would allow) and build up another pc i really enjoy doing it..Well did! Problem started off with VISTA asking me for drivers very early into the install. So read on here about people having the same trouble so today i went out and bought a SATA lite-on DVD rom and it worked, got to the windows key screen, I was over the moon..But it was to good to be true as i advanced on the same screen popped up again. Now it cant seem to find my HDD and i'm using it as a master and another DVD rom as slave(both IDE) But keep getting either disk read error" or "NTDLR is missing" no matter what i seem to do, it dont work.. I'm getting sick of trying to sort this, i've spend near £450 on this and really want it to start working so i can enjoy the big step up to vista 64 and the better CPU,memory ect...Please anyone have any ideas i'm at my wits end....Thanks in advance for any help....
Set up----- AX78....OCZ 2GB Kit (2x1024) Vista Upgrade Edition DDR2 PC2-6400 800MHz...XFX GeForce 8600 GT 512MB Vista 64 ....AMD CPU AM2 8650 Phenom 64 Triple core..PC Power & Cooling Silencer 610W EPS12V 610W

Hello and welcome to PC Help Forum.

The NTLDR is missing could coinside with XP not actualy with Vista as you are using and upgrade disk to install Vista.

You could try reinstall XP if that is what you were using then use upgrade Vista disk?
If you could explain wich operating system you installed first?XP Home/Pro or another?

Vista Upgrade Edition
So you used Vista upgrade disk?

How to install vista upgrade dsk:

1,First you install XP.
2,you update instal SPs etc.
3,you then insall Vista upgrade disk.

AS you wiped HDD via brothers computer then XP is no longer presant.

I sugest you do numbers 1,23.
Then see if you get NTLDR is missing?
If you do then I will get you links for boot disk NTLDR is missing.
If you dont then just update XP and then install Vista.

Wich XP are you using?

You formatted the HDD via Bro,s format option I would install XP first then install Vista.

I had a similar problem a few weeks ago.I have Vista Ultimate 64 bit full install disk.I installed SP1 and computer crashed. How I eventualy fixed this was to reinstall XP mind you I did not update the XP then I reinstalled Vista.Yeay PC back up and running.

The NTLDR IS MISSING is due to you formatted the HDD via your Bro,s computer.
