Hello,

My nice newish Vista laptop has sprung a leak...can anyone help me understand why?

On boot up this morning it wouldn't start and gave the following in the System Restore log as a root cause...

Unknown bug check: Bug check 50
Parameters= 0x8a143000,0x0,0x8a97e37e,0x0
Repair action system restore restilt: Failed : error code = 0x67
Time taken 91947ms (I guess this bit's fairly irrelevant...but for completeness...)

Reapir Action: System Files integrity check and repair
Reesult: Failed: error code 0x2
Time takne 435492

It's totally new to me...new format and such like.
msdn suggests that error code 0x67 is "The semaphore cannot be set again." and 0x2 is "The system cannot find the file specified"

Can anyone please help.

To check your system files, recommend you go to the Accessories
Right click on Command Prompt
Click on Run as administrator
enter: sfc /scannow
There is a space between "c" and "/".
This could take from minutes to hours to run.

The command should run to 100%.
