Default In The Dumps . . .

I installed Vista just a couple of days ago, and in that time it's crashed more times than XP in - I don't know how many months. My son hasn't had any problems with Vista on his PC - me, naturally I have!

I'm trying to upload my files, but when I try, it tells me I don't have permission to open. What am I doing wrong? Also, the files are way bigger than is allowed. They each are 263 or 264 kb. There are six of them total. At the moment, that is . . .

Hey Neenah,

Don't try to open them, just upload them. If they are too big, compress them first. Right click on the dump file, and then click on Send to, Compressed (zip) folder. This will create a new compressed file which should hopefully be small enough to upload. I don't need all six, just two or three will do.

If you have any further problems, would it be possible to take a screenshot (instructions for this on my signature)?

Hey, madmonkey, thanks for responding!

Yeah, I wasn't trying to open the file. Was trying to choose it to upload it, But every time I chose it to do that, I got the you have no permission error.

I have two events in the Problems Reported and Solutions file which is still open in my taskbar. I could copy and paste that, if that would work for you. In the meantime I'll try to upload again .. .

Okay, I tried to compress them. I clicked to have them sent to the desktop after compression, but then I get the error that the file can't be found or no read permission.

Where do I go to set permissions. What kills me is that I am the admistrator of this PC, but I have no permission to do anything! And no clue how to change that.

To get access to the files to upload them - do the following:

In Windows Explorer go the folder where the Minidumps are. Right click the Folder > Click Properties.

Select the Security tab > Click Edit > Click Add > In the Enter obeject names to select box - type your username > Click OK
Highlight your username in the Permissions screen and tick Full Control - Allow.

You should now have access to the minidump files to be able to post them for madmonkey to check.
