Hi
Can you post your system Specs in your profile (My PC Specs) please so users know what were dealing with. Click the Belarc Link in my signiture.

If you get a retail package of XP pro you will need it by the end of this month as you might know MS are cancelling it at the end of June.

Also if you have in built system recovery (Press F11 or recovery button at POST) use that.

Hi you will have to boot into recovery console and do the following:HP and Compaq Desktop PCs -  Using a Recovery Console to Resolve Startup Issues

Please read very carefully.

You cannot just downgrade from Vista to XP.You either uninstall Vista using Vista DVD first then install XP.

Or create a dual boot Vista/XP then uninstall Vista.

Or you will have to remove hard drive and fit as a slave to another pc and format as a slave for storage and replace into origonal pc.

Or borrow/buy if you do not have them already convert cables or external hard drive case to convert internal hard drive to external.

The problem you have is there is no downgrade path to downgrade Vista to XP.
