Default Problems accessing certain websites

Hi,

I have been trying to access www.msn.com, www.hi5.com, and trying to download messenger from msn sites and I am not getting any access, yet when I access for instance www.google.com, I am able to access it.
I have 2 gb of memory, 2.2 ghz of cpu speed and I have Microsoft Vista 32bit.

At first, I thought it was a virus so I went and did a scan. I have Mcaffee Security Center 2007-2008. I was unable to do an update on my signatures. Well the program said that I retrieve new signatures yet when I go into the Windows security center it is saying different.

Secondly, I tried removing any spyware with lavasoft adware program. When it was finished, I tried. Nothing

Thirdly, I tried to see if it is a problem with the firewall, that is try to see if these sites that I am unable to reach are being neglected by the firewall. However, in my opinion, Vista is soo much different to XP. I could not find the firewall option.

Can someone tell me if what I am doing wrong? I need to access my email and I just can not get onto it

Thanks

This happens to me all the time. Games will work just fine and my homepage comes up(google). But when I try to access other websites they never come. I've found that restarting my router fixes this everytime. I don't know whether this is a problem with my router, computer(happens on more than one), or the ISP connection device.

As for access to your firewall, go to your Control Panel.
Go to Windows Firewall
Click on the Exceptions tab
Place a check mark in the box in front of Internet Explorer
Also, place a check mark in the Notify me when Windows Firewall blocks a new program box.

Ok. I would check my router to see if it can reset. However, do you suggest anything else?

As for access to your firewall, go to your Control Panel.
Go to Windows Firewall

Also, place a check mark in the Notify me when Windows Firewall blocks a new program box.
Is this for Vista.

Yes, it is for Vista...

Also, suggest you download and install this program (it's free) CCleaner ... Alternative Download.
1. After installing...run the program...click on Analyzer...then click on Run Cleaner.
2. On the left side of the window, click on Registry...click on Scan for issues...click on Fix selected issues.

This program will cleanup your temp files and cookies.

To check your system files, recommend you go to the Accessories
Right click on Command Prompt
Click on Run as administrator
enter: sfc /scannow
There is a space between "c" and "/".
This could take from minutes to hours to run.
