Default What really is the difference between vista and xp?

Ok some people may know that my old pc has just given up on its self. So i'm getting a new one. I had to get one with vista as xp would have cost £50 pounds extra and the pc was expensive on my terms. The pc is comming in mid june so can anyone tell me what the real difference is between the two. In pc world they said it was quite similar but i'm not convinced. I heard that when it came out there was lots of bugs and problems with it but have they all been sorted and what kind of new features will i be getting.

Its Vista home premium i'm getting just to let you know

Haven't really used Vista but I know it is DirectX 10, where XP is 9 at best, Vista also has a flashy interface that you can't turn off (no Classic theme...) and there is Aero, which allows you to have transparent windows. Vista also uses a lot more memory then XP does...A LOT
Plainly put, XP min=64mb, Vista min=512 (official) 256 (with install of some extra thing)
Vista is supposedly more secure...but I doubt it

I do love XP.However I now have Vista Ultimate 64 bit. There is windows wallpapers wich I suppose are similar to Classic theme idea.

Would you want classic theme on Vista?Nope.

When buying a computer/laptop I advise to go with at least 2 gig RAM preinstalled. Why because one you turn on ceratin features like Aero and install software then you will be needing the extra RAM.512 is just not enough to run Vista at any great performance.

So buying Vista preinstalled then less problems finding drivers. If installing Vista yourself then mmm bit of a job to get the right drivers.

I have seen problems with passwording Vista and passwords not working.I advise not to password untill you have played and learned about Vista first.

The bugs?Ha ha Microsoft get rid of the bugs?No not yet. There is still a few.

Now many people are buying computers with preinstalled Vista then uninstalling it and installed XP.This can create more problems with lack of correct drivers.

Then to hate anything new like Vista as an OS?You need to learn how to use it thats all.I am sure if you can realy find your way around XP then I am sure you can find your way around Vista?

Read and learn how to use vista and set it up correctly:Windows Vista: Home Page

There are many features and setup procedures that are diffrent from XP and I think people should do a short course on how to before they start using Vista.

When you download or install new software or program Vista notifies you if it is compatable or gives a warning so unlike XP you can decide if you still going to install thet program.

Have a read of the link I posted.
