Hello,try this:

Resolution:-
1.Open Control Panel.
2.Double Click to open Sounds and Audio Devices.
3.Click Sounds tab.
4.Scroll down to Windows Explorer, which is present under the Programs events.
5.Select Complete Navigation and Start Navigation.
Click OK/Apply.

Tools/internet options/advanced tab/multimedia/play sounds in web pages/click apply.

Was there any yellow symbols in device manager next to audio?

Have you tried updating your drivers in device manager?

Is this Vista 32 bit or 64 bit?

If it is 64 bit are you also running IE 64 bit?If you are then that is your problem use the normal IE supplied with Vista there are 2 IEs to choose from.

Or in device manager uninstall your sound card then right click on media devices or sound title and scan for hardware changes to reinstall the sound card.

Are you sure your sound is not muted anywere?

Hi,do you know the make of your sound card?Or make and model of pc or mainboard? Then I can see if I can get a decent driver for you.

Uninstall all the drivers for it and then uninstall the sound card itself.

Reboot computer see if found new hardware picks it up?
