Default Can I end ieuser.exe?

Hi,

I've read up about this .exe and it is harmless but I want to know if it is okay to end the process via task manager (or any other method).

The reason for this is that it is really annoying. It keeps starting and stopping and figuratively eats up most of my CPU. When it starts the CPU usage goes from 7% to 70% and this happens every few seconds. This also makes my cursor shudder as it changes to it's loading state every few seconds.

I just want to know if it is okay to stop it.

Thanks in advance,

Bikkit.

PS. I use Firefox and only use IE for email.

PPS. Is there anyway I can get hotmail to open up in Firefox?

You can end anything you want including Explorer.exe (windows explorer) --this will leave a blank desktop...no Icons no pics nothing just background screen.
In fact this way can be the faste way out of a totally locked PC-- you end explorer.exe... then go to file/new task/z(type) explorer.exe-- hit "enter"-- and bingo your whole desktop reloads for you. just as if you had just logged on.

Yea, I know all about what the .exe does. I just want to know if it is safe to end the process because I don't use IE. Will it affect anything other than the use of IE?

It Should no affect on even IE-- it is a process that Monitors IE for another program called Security Task Manager --it is a third-party app that monitors Windows Tasks-- so you know what is running in 'the backgound' on your computer---a precautionary app to prevent spyware and the like

Okay, thanks.

Now, I got a bit ahead of myself earlier. How exactly do I end the process? Since it keeps popping up and then ending and then starting again etc etc I can't actually stop it form task manager. Can someone who knows how to end it take me through the process of actually ending it for good?

PS. I've noticed rundll32.exe is acting in a very much similar manner. I'll do a virus scan over night to determine if it's a virus or not.
