Hi all, i'm thinking about getting a new computer and obviously it will come with vista, but I have heard reports saying that vista is bad. Is this true?

I woudl say it isnt true at all. As long as it has enough ram and your peripherals will work with it it will be fine. Ive used Vista X64 since RTM and have no problems at all with the operating system imo its better than XP by a long way. I am however just one voice and I am someone who has spent a lot of time working on learning the ins and outs of Vista but I love it. A couple of my usb devices do not work on Vista so I just run them on a virtual machine

i wouldnt say vista is bad like what zinglebarb said "As long as it has enough ram and your peripherals will work with it it will be fine" i was thinking the same as you when i was going to buy my new vista pc but i promise you you wont be dissapointed

I would say it depends on the user, if your a basic user that doesnt know much about PC's then Vista would be a headache for you, as when something doesnt work you wont know what to try for example compatibilty mode or turning UAC off, but for the more experienced user it should be fine, you will still get problems you probably wouldnt get in XP but as long as there's a fix wont be a big deal.

I got it to run on a 1.2Ghz P4, 512Mbs of RAM XD
Runs wonderfully, with Aero too.

On-topic.. I've had nothing but good experiences with Vista, especially the tech support.. I was utterly blown away by the tech help. Literally. It's bloody incredible.

Thanks everyone for your views, I don't think I will hesitate to buy a new P.C now.

I think the P.C i'm geting has 1GB of ram, do you guys think that will be enough?

1GB should be enough depending on what you do.
Most likely your new PC will be able to have up to 4gb max if you wanted to upgrade

I love Vista, it's kind of annoying when you start off with it. But once you get used to it you won't ever go back to XP.

i have seen a lot of reports on vista i have used vista and i can say it is bad it cames with a lot of bugs my windows xp runs faster then the vista and it is falling a part!.

Installed Vista and so far its fine.

Takes a little getting used to though.

I have 4 gig RAM so my machine runs great.However I find it slow to boot up unlike XP Home/Pro.
Once up and running it is fine.

The most annoying thing is the updates they take forever to install and all the reboots,omg.

Installed SP1 lets see how it runs now.

Run Vista upgrade advisour on Microsoft website before installing it.I would get at least 2 gig RAM installed.
