My sister wanted to watch some episodes I burned to DVD and when she accesses the DVD drive, the screen goes black, shows the folder, and black again. We access the files by going to my computer > DVD drive > folder on the DVD containing episodes. As soon as we access the folder the blinking occurs. I thought it might be the size of the icons, but after changing it to list, detail, etc. it still happens. Another thing that happens is that a pop-up bubble comes up but I can't read it because the screen goes black. There's only a second or two before the screen goes black and in that time I try to close the window or go to task manager. The CPU usage also goes up to 99% when this happens.

Open your Device Manager
In front of the DVD/CD-ROM drives category, is there a + in a box?
If the category has a - in a box, then the device listed needs to be deleted and then you need to reboot so Windows can reinstall the device correctly.

No -'s anywhere in the device manager.
