Default [Answered] Vista backup image

Hi, until recently i was dual booting XP and Vista on the same HDD, on 2 partitions. A couple of days ago i bought a 2nd 40gb Hdd and re-installed Vista on that and merged the 2 partitions back into one...

Today I got a 60gb Seagate HDD and I was thinking about swapping it for the 40gb...

Can i use the Vista backup image program to copy the 40gb drive and put the image on the 60gb drive, saving me the hassle of re-installing Vista for the 2nd time in a couple of days???

Is this possible?

D

No JB, I believe it works like norton ghost, it takes a snapshot of the hard drive so that you can just put the whole image back, but i dont know the specifics of the Vista one, how it works or how to do it

Default Re: Vista backup image

Vista backup does not backup the Windows system files.
That is why Vista has the System Restore Function.

I would not reinstall Vista to the new drive and waste an activation of Vista just to move the operating system to a bigger drive unless the old drive was failing. Also, the bigger the drive that the operating system is on the slower the operating system will work.
