My dvd burner is not recognizing any of my discs, and windows said it wasn't working or not installed. And i tried uninstalling and rebooting, so what i was told to do was get a new dvd burner and i did. Now the same problem still occurs, and another was revealed, after pluging in the new dvd burner and turning on the system. A window with Rundll as its title stated that nvmctray.dll was not found. I download that file and put it in my system32 folder. Hopefully that takescare of that, but what should i do about the DVD burner.

1. Microsoft does not want users to be able to create a bootable copy of Vista.
To my knowledge, if you can't find your original copy, you will need to purchase a new copy of Vista.
2. As for your DVD burner, I suggest you install it in a computer that is up and running to see if it works as it should.
Good Luck...
