Windows Vista - [Resolved] WMP 11 not working right. posted in the Operating Systems forums; Theres pretty much no way i can uninstall it without hurting the actual OS or re-installing Vista. Any other ideas from anyone?...

Theres pretty much no way i can uninstall it without hurting the actual OS or re-installing Vista.

Any other ideas from anyone?

Let's try another tack, then...
Are you using an "Onboard" soundcard-- or a PCI plug-in card.
Either one-- do you know the brand/model of it ?
Meanwhile I'll do some research online --too see if I can get any more ideas.

It seems you are not alone with this issue with WMP and Vista.
WMP 11 plays video-- no sound - Google Search

I finally fixed it.

It was my X-fi card. I disabled all the enhancements and UNchecked the "Allow programs to take control of" whatever.
