Default [Answered] Trying to resize partitions.

I have Vista Ultimate on a 500gb HD. I have 3 partitions. 1 holds Vista and has about 100 extra gbs on it. 2 has all my back up stuff (movies, music etc). 3 is just empty unallocated space. Heres a pic. (The 4th unallocated space is just me messing around trying to get all this together)

So basically what im wondering is, is there a way to extend the Back up drive 'D' since its almost full? The vista partition editor wont let me do it so any other proggies that might work?

Thanks!

Here are some links that should help you.

Did you use disk managment snapin tool?

I didnt know about the CMD option, thanks. But it didnt help. I do think i have it to where i want it i just wanted to make sure this wont screw anything up.

I just deleted the 2 extra partitons so now all thats left is the Main one with Vista and the Back up with the movies. Then the unallocated space which is 34.05gb. When i click on extend the Back up drive it says Max amount in size is 34872mb. Im guessing that the unallocated space its going to use? Sorry but i really dont feel like losing all my stuff.

Instead of starting a new thread i thought i would just post it here since its sort of the same problem.

After i got the first problem resolved everything was fine. But now my D drive is almost full again. So i have 100gb left on C but it wont let me shrink more that 4 or 5 gb. It says blah blah blah pagefile or snapshots. Im sure you know what im talking about.

From what ive read the only way to work around this and shrink it more is Defrag, Disable System restore then it should work? Is there anything else i would have to do, and is this safe for my drive i.e. will i screw something up and have to re-install?
