I downloaded it using Windows Update. Then,it told me it had to restart the PC. It did. Then the installation resumed. I went away for a few minutes and when I came back, a session of disk error check was scheduled and was running. Now, all I see is a black screen with the following: "!!0xc0190036!! 1316/68500 (mmcss.dll)" PLEASE SOMEONE HELP

I have been advised by my laptop supplier to wait in case there are any bugs or glitches in it. I don't know if this is a right or wrong policy. If I have automatic updates on, will it not install without me knowing about it? Your views on this would be very welcome.

It will if your system is upto it. M$HQ have said if the system has drivers that are not compatible it will not creep through. Might be worth changing to Check for updates but let me choose
