Default [Resolved] Network probs

Hey ive just got a new laptop, and im trying to connect to the network i have set up in my home with a different laptop, (the older laptop is still in use).
on my new laptop i can connect to the network but a problem with a "DNS" is stopping me getting onto internet explorer. "Windows failed to find the well known host Microsoft Corporation using DNS. The server may be down"
as i said its a new laptop so i know i dont have a virus' or anything that would prevent it from working is there something im supposed to do to connect without problems?
thx in advance for the help
