Hi All
My daughter has a acer laptop with the basic vista on it

Well i could cook a 3 course meal in the time it takes to load and run

I have a xp upgrade disk, so i was wondering if it would feasable to get rid of vista and put xp on it

Do you mean?full XP install disk?Format disk?Upgade disk?
You cannot use an XP upgade disk to install xp,plus Vista is an upgrade you cannot down grade.You would need a full install disk of XP.

The machine may not run with xp on it due to driver issues,it was built for vista.

Do you have norton installed?As it will slow it down

No its just an upgrade disc,but i thought i could format the hd, and when it askes for a previous windows os
i would put in my win 98se disc
just like i do when i format my desktop and rerinstall xp

i took norton of it along with a load of other **** that came with it

when i got the lappy from ebuyer, i read in the reviews that some guy had said he had done it using drivers from acer web site

Yes you can do the win98/XP upgade disk.However the laptop was built for vista and may not run properly with XP.
