Default Flash Player will not install.

Hi All,

I have recently upgraded to Vista, and everything is great (I dont know why so many people despise it, it runs programs alot faster than XP did) except i cannot install Adobe Flash Player. I had a similar problem with XP a while back, I resolved the issue on XP by using a stand alone installer.

When I download the flash player, it all goes good. It installs, the little flash player movie plays congratulating me for pushing the install button and all seems good until I use an application that uses flash, it tells me I need flash... and it redirects me back to adobe.

So I went through this loop about 6 - 7 times before I realized I aint getting anywhere.

Here is what I have tried:
Using a stand alone installer.
Running "C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\Flashutil9 e" as admin.
Yelling at the computer.
Installing while EVERYTHING else is closed.
Turning off "Protected Mode" in IE7.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Thanks

Scott

Hi Scotty, have you tried turning off User Account Control off? There can be issues with permissions involving IE7

OK, after much research through google and testing, I have found that there is a known bug between Flash Player and the ATI Catalyst on any Vista OS.

I tried lots of different flash applications, some worked, some didn't. The youtube videos wouldn't work in full screen either, I just got a diagnally split full screen, half grey half white. This particular issue was posted here: Adobe - Macromedia Flash Player

So I guess I'll just have to wait

Thanks anyway D

***Update***

There is still no fix yet, however there is a temp solution that works fine.

Turning off the hardware accelerator in flash settings (right clicking a youtube video for example).
