Exclamation Vista Update Problem

I have no problem downloading the Updates, but when I got to turn the computer off it installs the updates.

This takes hours to get through 1 Update, and seems to freeze at a certain point or simply install really slowly. It says do not turn off but I have no choice sometimes as it has to be turned off.

Is there a solution\hotfix to this or can I simply install updates when its on, not in the shutting down process?

Hi Matt, normally when Windows Update runs, it asks you if you want to install the updates after it's finished downloading them. Are you not getting this at all? Have you tried clicking on the icon in the taskbar after it's downloaded, or does Windows Update actually close when the download process is finished?

Well to be honest all I see is that little icon in the system tray and dont pay much attention to it, but when it comes to turn the comnputer off there is an icon on the shut down button that says updates need to be installed.

I changed the Windows Update settings so that I will be notified when they are to be installed.

Ok well see how that goes. You should have an option to install the updates there and then, instead of waiting for the computer to turn off. When it notifies you that updates are ready to be installed, make sure you click on it and let them.

Let us know how you get on.
