Default [Fixed] Vista is randomly freezing

I just recently built my first computer. Im running Vista home premium 32 bit. 3x1gb corsair 800 mhz, fatality FP-IN9 motherboard, Intel Duel Core processor 2.66 and a ge force 8800 gt pci-e graphics card.

everything is running great after tackling the apparent wide issue of vista not allowing you to connect to the internet. except for the one problem that i am consistently having is that Vista will randomly hang or freeze up on me and the only thing you can do is reboot because it will just sit there forever until you do. It doesnt matter what im doing. Its done it while playing world of warcraft, while surfing the web, while clicking on the start menu, it just seems like it happens at the role of the dice, which is why i cant figure out what to troubleshoot because you can go back and do the same thing again and it be fine. Ive read alot of forums but no one seems to have a solution. i have reinstalled vista, i have tried altering the performance of the system by disabling some feature. i have reconfigured the bios as suggested in some other forums.

Im just hoping someone can point me in the right direction who has had experience with this issue. (it seems alot of people are). I dont know whether it could be a hardware or configuration issue or if its just plain ol vista.
what can possibly cause your system to just hang whenever it feels like it?

Hi welcome to PCHF Do you get any error at all or just freezes? Frezzing can happen because of heat issue or faulty memory. download a memory tester and test the memory first would be a good starting point do you have software monitoring your PC's temps?

actually i read through my Mobo manual and found that my driver disk comes with a Temp and voltage monitor sofware. so i installed that. Found out that the voltage set for my Ram was way over. I fixed that and didnt get any flags after that. I also updated the bios to the latest version last night. oddly enough after those two steps vista didnt freeze up for the rest of the night.
to answer your question it just freezes. and i have to reboot. No error message or anything. and then when it gets back to vista i get a message that says vista recovered from an unknown problem. As far as the temperature the software provided by my Mother board says all is good. I never thought of it being a heating problem because i have a nice gaming case that has a giant fan on top and Three others inside running on high all day. Plus the Powersupply fan, the Graphics card fan and the CPU fan. in any cause lets hope the two steps i took last night helped. the test will be tonight when i get home and start playing WOW. but thanks for the tip. ill download a memory tester tonight and see what happens.
thanks!

well it seems that updating my bios and fixing the timing and voltage to my ram stopped the freezing. i was really putting my pc thought a test last night. i had world of warcraft playing with highest resolution and detail plus playing a movie and surfing the web and no freezing.
apparently my bios had the timing to my ram going 4-4-4-12 and 2.20v, when it supposed to me 5-5-5-12 and 2.0v. made a huge difference!
