Unhappy [Resolved] vista to xp problem

I just recently bought a used HP DV9000 laptop but it came with a Vista Home edition. Im trying to install my copy of XP but after I boot from disc it tells me that it cant install XP because no HDD can be found......I.do not know anything about vista, BTW it has sata hd, is this a vista problem or a sata problem? thanks for your help

Hi welcome to PCHF you will need to go to HP and download the SATA driver and put it on a floppy and do this Limited OEM driver support is available with F6 during Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 setup

check if you need to press F6 to install SATA drivers when installing XP

F6 wasnt gonna help since I had no floppy drive to load drivers. Turns out I needed to disable sata drive sopport in bios! THANKS FOR THE RESPONSE
