Default [Answered] Disable User Switching?

Hi again guys and gals,

A quick query (hopefully!). When I leave my PC for any length of time I have a standard Vista/Windows screen saver running, with it set to return to the login screen and check password upon any mouse movement etc. However I'd like to be able to remove the option to Switch User from this screen. Is this possible or would I have to download a 3rd party screensaver to protect the whole PC from use and not just my account?

If I had to go down the 3rd party route, can you recommend any free ones with good graphics and no hidden nasties - spyware etc.

Just wanting to be able to stop anyone else from using the PC when I'm not there as it is regulary left on overnight or for long periods when I'm not in the house.

Cheers in advance.

Hi Scottyboy

This link should help you: How to disable Fast User Switching in Windows Vista

Note: If running a home edition of Windows Vista you will need to use the registry editing method as gpedit.msc is not available in home editions.

If you decide to do that. Please make sure you backup the registry first and are very careful when editing it.

To backup the registry:
1. On start type regedit and open it.
2. Go to file. Export
3. Ensure the export range is set to all
4. Save the backup in an appropriate location

Hope that helps.

Thank you very much for the link, that method works perfectly.

Can now leave my PC running all night without my lodger kicking me off it when I'm away out.

Cheers again
