Default [Resolved] System Preparation Tool 3.14 always runs on startup

Hi again guys,

One of my students just got this laptop back from PC World, who were repairing it. Now, whenever the laptop starts, a program starts on startup called "System Preparation Tool 3.14". I've tried a few things to stop this happening, but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions?

I'ved tried:

(1) What was suggested at Gateway Support - System Preparation Tool Message Displays Every Time the Computer Starts

However, the "Intel Viiv™ Media Server" process is not present.

(2) Finding the program using msconfig, but I can't find it.

(3) Finding the program in "Services", but I can't find it.

First thing is the most obvious. Go to Start > Programs > Startup
Is theSystem Preparation Tool program listed there?

If yes, delete it.
If no, then click on the Pre-Work in my signature area and follow the directions.

Good Luck...

TuneUp Utilities might help - download the free trial and then start tune up bypass the buy options and click start up manager find the software that is bugging you and untick it close it and restart the laptop it should not come up again

Hi guys,

Sorry I've been so long getting back to you - didn't get to the student last week so couldn't check out his computer. I'm due to see him today but he's left some messages on my machine, and I think he's sent his PC back to PC World again, as it stopped working completely...we've had no end of problems with them; I think I'll try and get his money back.

Jim
