Question [Answered] How many times can I install Vista on the SAME computer with 1dvd?

Well my question is how many times can I use the Vista DvD to install vista on the same computer? I heard it was around 3 so I was wondering if I could just make copies of my DVD - not for pirating -would I be able to use it and keep that as a backup to re-install vista? it's just that I mess around with my computer so much that I always end having to use system restore - but this time I installed Ubuntu and deleted the partition and now the GRUB boot loader overwrote my vista one and the vista dvd wont fix this - I can't even boot the computer - it's just stuck at GRUB boot loader - Error 22.

Thanks.

Hi David,

There is a limit of 3 times that you can activate windows. However, if you need to reinstall windows - you can call Microsoft and they'll reset the amount of times you've done it

From what I've read it requires a "format" to get rid of Grub-- maybe one of our Linux guys can tell you better-- I don't know.

you can still reinstall Windows-- as GarHar said it's a matter of a phone call-- the number comes up on a webpage when you try to reactivate past the limit-- it only takes 5 minutes.
