Question [Resolved] Help with Windows Explorer Error Message

Hey, I am getting a series of error messages looping about every ten seconds. The first box says "Windows Explorer has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution to the problem..." and the second box says ' Windows Explorer is restarting....'

Whenever I shut it down it gives me the following message."The instruction at 0x02491773 referenced memory at 0x02491773. The memory could not be read. Click OK to terminate the program."

I believe this was caused by a Trojan or just spyware. I have searched with several different Anti-spyware (etc) programs and I have removed the original problem but I am sure it altered something related to Windows Explorer. Any help would be deeply appreciated.

(Note: I can still open programs using Windows task manager)

Smile Re: Help with Windows Explorer Error Message

I have fixed the problem! After 6 days of annoying pop-ups, I stumbled onto the Microsoft Tech Help (complaint) forum, and read this post

I had this problem for the last 3 days on my laptop. It drove me nuts. I spent 5 hours with Microsoft tech, reinstalled over the os and and still this did not resolve the problem. Finally, they transfered me to there higher tech specialists after 3 days of total hair pulling frustration and in 5 minutes he had it resolved by going into the registry open HKey local machine, software, microsoft, windows, CurrentVersion, explorer,Shared Task Scheduler, and remove two of the four lines that were there. The only lines I kept were "default" "component Catergories cashe daemon" The other lines were placed in there by the spyware and were the infections. Once this was done, it ran perfectly. I can't believe they have not passed this on to their first teir technicians. There needs to be a auto fix for this that one can use to repair this problem.
To get to the registry you have to do cont-alt-del, start Windows Task Manager, disable explore.exe by high lighting it in the Image Name Tab. Click end process. This will stop the loop. Then go to file, click New Task Run. Here type in "regedit". This gets you to the registry. Then follow the above. It worked for me. Hope it works for you.

Using these directions I have fixed the problem.

Thank you for your help anyways, and if I ever need some more help I will ask here.
