Default [Pending] Remote Desktop

Hey all,

My favourite subject!

I am running a Windows XP Pro computer which is setup to receive remote desktop connections and also have a static IP etc. I am pretty sure it is all setup OK as a friend of mine can connect via his PC from his workplace. (Asked him to do this to check all was well)

Problem is, for some reason my laptop running Vista Business will not connect.

All I get is an error message:

'This computer can't connect to the remote computer

Try connecting again. If the problem continues, try contacting the owner of the remote computer or your network administrator'

I can connect to the computer if I put my laptop inside the LAN of the "remote" computer but cannot connect over the internet from my home using my static ip (which my friend can!)

Any ideas?

Many Thanks
James

Id also like to know how to configure this as well, as my mum and mates sometimes need help.

Hi james,

I was want to confirm what you're trying to do.

Your XP computer is at your house...and you're trying to connect to the external IP address from your laptop, which is also at your home?
