Default [Pending] Repeated Application Data

I was running out of disk space so I started looking around for what was taking up the most space. I noticed that under C:\ProgramData or C:\documents and settings... my "application data" folder has about 30 folders for all the usual apps (Adobe, Alltunes, Aol, etc). In this list is another "application data" and it also has the 30 or so folders. And that one has another ... on and on. I thought it was just showing the same thing, that in fact there was only one "application data" folder. But when I ran a little utility for breaking down your disks by size, I found that each "application data" folder has a different size. Is this right? Is my App Data really eating all thoses gigs of space?
The pic I included might help clarify what I'm talking about. Thanks!

So, Application Data is inside another folder named Application Data?

Yeah, the list of folders inside my App Data includes another called "Application Data". And inside that folder is the same list of folders that also includes another "Application Data". On and on. It looks like the same contents every time ... like I'm getting the same view of folders inside app data and it's not really repeated on my hard drive. What makes me worry is that the size of each App Data folder is slightly smaller each time. i might not be describing this clearly... it's hard to explain. Maybe i can include another pic of my Explorer...

Hmm. That is strange. I would leave the Application Data folders alone, since altering them can cause problems with your programs.

Also, download CCleaner ane have it clear everything. Then run its registry cleaner.

What sort of security programs are you running?

Let's see, I've got Windows Defender and Max secure's Spyware Detector.

You know, if nobody else has this chinese box effect with their App Data folder ... I wonder if something happened when I converted from XP to Vista. Some kind of copying error with the conversion. i dont remember it with XP. And I can't account for my full harddrive. i should have a few gig by my calculations. Thanks for the replys Rodents210.

It's a possibility, but let's check some other things first.

Please use the link in my signature to complete the Prework and post back with the logs.

Windows Defender is insufficient. I suggest downloading AVG AntiSpyware, AVG Antivirus, and ZoneAlarm Firewall. They're all in our Downloads section.
