Lightbulb [Pending] Audio / Video issue using Vista home premium

Hi All,

I have a new PC (2 weeks old) running Windows Vista Home Premium, i have heard that vista can be a little unreliable however i have come up with an issue which i constantly leads to my PC crashing though intermitent with regards to time.

When i run a video through IE7 i find that almost every time my PC will freeze and become 100% not responsive; all i can do is reboot. Additionally i have found that also listening to online radio has this same effect, what puzzels me is that sometimes i can watch video's for up to 30 min's with no issues where as others i can only get through a few seconds?

I have all the latest drivers for my graphics card (nvidia Geforce 8500GT) and under the 'sound video & games controller' in device manager i have 'realtek high definition audio' which says it has the latest driver also. Additionally i have downloaded the latest direct x from windows update though this hasn't made a difference.

If anyone has an idea or if you need more info i would be most greatful.

Many Thanks

Marc H

Hi there Marc,

Do you have any yellow exclamation marks in Device Manager?
Did you re-install the drivers that came (I assume) on a disk from your PC manufacturer?
Are you getting "Blue screens" when the PC crashes?
Can you have a look at the Event Viewer and tell us of any error messages.

Hi Hengis,

Thank you for ou response,

Device manager shows no exlanation marks, Sadly i wasn't provided with the original drivers however this problem has been here since the begining :-(

The event log show's many errors file attached Blue screening has occured seperatly once however for this issue the PC freezes and a constant tone is present, nothing at all works keyboard & mouse, bribery nothing at all.
