I just bought a new Gateway That has vista during the operation I sat up the Admin Acct. and user acct. I am not worried about forgetting my password because I use the same one on three different pc's. The vista keeps telling me I have the wrong password. Gateway tells me they can fix it but it is going to cost me money. I had to retype it twice so if I put it in wrong I put it in wrong twice. But I have used every varyation I can think of and cant afford to pay. Does anyone know how to reset the Admin and user acct. Passwords?

I'm afraid we cannot discuss cracking passwords here (check http://www.pchelpforum.com/windows-x...uncements.html), however, there is one thing you can try first:

- Reboot your PC
- Keep pressing F8 until a startup menu appear
- Select Safe Mode
- When you reach the logon screen, type Administrator as the username (and, yes, a password if one has been set for this account).
- Once you are logged on as Administrator, you can go to My Computer, Control Panel and User Accounts and reset your password from there.
